I have a BT broadband contract in my UK flat with a Youview box. I get 50 mbps at the moment. I will be in South Africa for a few months and BT will not suspend the contract until I get back. I intend taking my Youview box and BT hub5 with me, although I have a Netgear hub in SA. I have a fibre link in SA although I will need an internet supplier while I am there.
Would I be able to load your VPN onto the router in order to continue to use the BT contract in SA?
What speed should I purchase to get a reasonable streaming connection with the VPN?

  Hi Jamie, Using a VPN will generally reduce overall speed but not by any significant to reduce video streaming capability. Also if you look at https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.libertyshield.com there was a review yesterday from someone called John who is commenting that his BT speed is practically unchanged when using the Pro model of the VPN Router.

I am having issues with my IPTV not connecting via BT internet at certain times. Will a VPN router solve this? Is it a one off fee if 12.99 or do I have to pay monthly on top? Do I need the router and the shield I guess is my question.

I have a BT dual router with my BT WiFi, it does not allow VPN. Can I add an additional router or change out my home hub?
Another option could be to add a VPN to my LG Tv but I’m led to believe that isn’t possible either …..

  Hi David, You won’t have to make any changes to to your BT Router, it will just work in the same way it does now and the VPN Router just creates a new encrypted network in your home that you can connect devices to that you do no want BT to be able to log, monitor or block. I hope this helps.

I am struggling to make sense of this information when set against information available elsewhere.

I have BT Infinity broadband using a BT Home Hub 5 router. I have an Amazon Prime subscription and two Fire Sticks and one Fire TV box connected to my three televisions. I also have an Apple TV streamer (second generation). I run a number of third party APKs on my Fire streamers as well as a Kodi build.

Reviews on Amazon’s website indicate that Prime does not work if this VPN is installed. Do you agree with that? No one from your company has posted a denial if it is not true!

What, if any, is the connection between your company and BT? If none, can BT block your product if it is detected? Assuming that Amazon Prime can detect it, why would BT not be able to detect it, also?

After buying the device, it is necessary to sign up to a service for twelve months, after an initial trial period of 14 days. Is it possible to use the device with a different VPN provider in future – e.g. you increase your renewal price by 100%?

You will understand that it involves spending rather a lot of money when there are so many unanswered or unexplained questions!

  Firstly all of your devices can be connected to the VPN Router – I have a BT Home Hun 5 at home also, my VPN Router connects to it and then I connect all my devices to the VPN Router WiFi and not the BT WiFi; though I could if I wished – I simply prefer the encryption the VPN provides and it means BT cannot log or block any content.

  Hi Mike, We tend to recommend 10mbps or more ISP base speed or more. Approximately 5mbps is needed for an HD video stream, so with 15mbps base speed we would expect you should have around 10mbps approximately via the VPN Router; which would be enough to run 2 x HD video streams simultaneously.

  You need to connect the VPN router to your BT router as the VPN router needs the feed from your ISP, so connect the VPN router via port 1 on the VPN router, as per the guide provided with your router.
