⚽ Leicester vs Manchester United
📅 Saturday 26 December 2020

🖥️ BT Sport Live Streaming
Boxing Day’s early kicks sees 2nd play 3rd as United travel to the King Power to take on Brendan Rodgers’ men. Leicester have been inconsistent this season, with five defeats already, but nine wins and zero draws has seen them sit in the top 4 all season. Rodgers seems to have taken Guardiola’s mindset of draws being the worst thing in football to heart and his team, always attack minded, never settle for a share of the spoils. United find themselves in 3rd despite being generally poor in the Premier League thus far. The Everton and Leeds games are the only times United have played well across a full 90 minutes in league play this year. Both teams will want to attack and this game promises goals, so it could well come down to which team defends the best and in that regard, you’d have to fancy Leicester to win this game.
Leicester have three wins and three draws from their last six games. Their results have been a touch predictable with wins over Sheffield United and Brighton being expected, and defeats away to Liverpool and home to a good Everton team not surprising either. Their defeat to Fulham was very disappointing but they balanced that out with an excellent win over Spurs last time. They do rely heavily on Jamie Vardy but the veteran front man is repaying their faith once again. They’ve gotten better as they’ve gotten healthier and only Pereira and Soyuncu missed the Spurs game. Over the past five games, Leicester are fifth in the form table and will go into this game in a confident mood.
Pereira is ruled out until January, whilst Soyuncu could potentially make the bench for United. Jamie Vardy has a groin issue but is expected to be fit.
United, as mentioned earlier, have not impressed with their performances in the league this season but have gotten results consistently even when playing poorly. Over the past 5 games, they sit top of the form table with four wins and a draw against Manchester City in a very boring Manchester derby. They rode their luck against Southampton and West Ham, after being comprehensively outplayed in the first half of both games before good second half displays saw them turn around deficits. They had to hold their breath late on against Sheffield United but did play some really good football in spells. Last time out, against Leeds, they were ruthless in attack and showed how good they can be when things click for them going forward. Six goals without Rashford or Martial scoring showed that their focus in the transfer market needs to be at the other end of the pitch.
Marcus Rojo and Phil Jones are unavailable for United, while Scott McTominay could miss out after picking up a groin injury against Leeds. Luke Shaw is a doubt but should recover in time.
⚽ Arsenal vs Chelsea
📅 Sunday 26 December 2020
⏰ 1730 UK Kick-Off

There is likely no manager in the league under more pressure than Mikel Arteta right now and a home game against one of your biggest rivals is not the ideal fixture to have when you’re desperate for a win. Chelsea will be in no mood to take pity on their fellow Londoners as they chase a place in the top 4, and their fans would love to claim responsibility for a rival sacking their manager after a bad result.
Arsenal are second from bottom in the form table, on goal difference. Four defeats in five, with their last league win coming almost two months ago, simply isn’t good enough for a club like Arsenal. Keeping Sheffield United company at the foot of the form table is not what they envisioned coming into this season, and 15th place in the league is not where they want to be at all. Burnley are breathing down their necks as well, and given that Burnley took only one point from their first six games it really does show how poor Arsenal have been lately. Shaky at the back, lacking purpose and control in the middle of the field and blunt in attack, nothing is currently going well for the Gunners. They have the talent to be far more, but are paying the price for years of bad recruitment and their failure to integrate top class academy prospects that were allowed to leave the club on the cheap. This game is a must win for Arteta, who will find it hard to see out the year if Arsenal don’t turn things around quickly.
Thomas Partey remains sidelined with an injury, but Granit Xhaka should return from suspension. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is a doubt but will have a fitness test.
Frank Lampard finally managed to oversee his first win of the season against a team in the top half of the league, as Chelsea beat 10th placed West Ham 3-0 at Stamford Bridge on Monday night. The Blues have very much been flat track bullies this season, sweeping aside the teams they are expected to beat but struggling against the leagues better teams. Arsenal very much fall into the category of teams they are expected to beat, which is crazy considering the battles these teams waged at the top end of the table for so long. Chelsea will have some concerns of how Kai Havertz has thus far failed to adapt to the Premier League, and at how Frank Lampard has failed to use him correctly. Similarly, Timo Werner’s troubles in front of goal have not gone unnoticed. Werner’s all-round play has been quite good but his finishing has been anything but good. Chelsea are 7th in the form table and will need to improve on that if they are to secure Champions League football again next season. Defeats to Everton and Wolves were not part of the plan but weren’t totally unexpected, defeat to Arsenal would be very disappointing.
Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Reece James all have knocks and will face fitness tests but are expected to be passed fit barring any set backs.

One of the great historic rivalries in English football, the battle of the United’s is renewed after a near nine year gap. In truth, it’s a 16 year gap. Since Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in 2004, this rivalry has been largely dormant but with roots dating back to the War of the Roses these games do always matter when both teams are where they should be. In the top division. In the 60s, Matt Busby and Don Revie were two of the top managers in the game and their sides hated each other. The Charlton brothers, caught on opposite sides of the divide, wouldn’t speak in the run up to games. In the last season before the Premier League began, Manchester United and Leeds United were the top teams in the country, with Leeds overcoming their rivals to claim the league title before Fergie’s era of dominance began the next year.
Despite dreadful performances in the majority of Premier League games and being 9th in the table at time of writing, Manchester United enter the midweek games as the most in-form team in the league with four wins and a draw from their last five. They’ve had more than their fair share of luck and needed to rely on the brilliance of individuals like Bruno Fernandes and Edinson Cavani more than they’d ideally like to, but wins are wins. At a time when Ole Gunnar Solksjaer needs them most, especially as United collapsed out of the Champions League, the Red Devils have strung good results together. They will view Leeds as a team they should beat, all things considered and if they overcome Sheffield United in midweek, which they should, they could well end the weekend in the top four.
Phil Jones is United’s only definite absentee though there are doubts over Edinson Cavani’s fitness at time of writing.
Leeds have been a fantastic watch all season long, but they have one of the most glaring Achilles Heels’ in the Premier League. Bielsa’s men just can’t defend set pieces and that is not ideal heading into a game where the opposition possess a man who’s nickname is Slabhead. Leeds are going to have to find a way to nullify Harry Maguire’s threat at set pieces. Leeds will want to impose their high tempo on this game and try to run the home team off the pitch. If they can do that, and if they can keep things respectable on set pieces, they have a real chance of heading home with all three points as the likes of Raphinha, Rodrigo and Bamford will cause United problems.
Leeds are without summer signings Robin Koch and Diego Llorente, who likely would be their first choice central defensive pairing, as well as Adam Forshaw and Gaetano Berardi who have been out all season.
