Watch Cobra Kai On Netflix with VPN

When How I Meet Your Mother featured both William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence) and Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) in an episode called ‘The Bro Mitzvah’ (S8E22), the inside joke of Johnny Lawrence being the real hero of Karate Kid inspired both of them to make this show. Thus, we were introduced to the new Cobra Kai series in 2018. This series is a continuation of the Karate Kid trilogy, showing us what happened to various characters after the films. Lawrence is now the hero, rebuilding Cobra Kai to teach new children to stand up for themselves and to rebuild his life as a sensei. He is determined to not become his sensei, John Kreese (Martin Kove), but constantly struggles against his former mentor’s teachings as well as his inner demons to do so.

Cobra Kai is now considered a prime example of how to continue a franchise and make something new. The series has been critically acclaimed for its exciting plot, excellent character development, and respecting history. There are consequences from the past, evident by the relationship between Lawrence and LaRusso. When Cobra Kai opens again with good intentions, LaRusso is terrified about this due to his past with the old Cobra Kai. He opens Miyagi-Do, and the rivalry begins anew between the two dojos.

Relating to the past, both Lawrence and LaRusso think they were right and almost stubbornly refuse to see the other’s view. The students end up seeing things this way too. Between the two dojos, tension rises over their sensei’s different opinions and teachings. This comes to a head at the finale of season 2 when both dojos fight head-to-head to devastating consequences. Miyagi- Do is shut down and Kreese takes full control of the Cobra Kai Dojo.

Season 3 aired on January 1st, 2021. It continues the journey of Lawrence and LaRusso after both men have lost their dojos. Kreese has complete control of Cobra Kai. This presents a huge threat, as many students are still recovering from the events of season 2. With brilliant fight choreography, excellent acting, and plot, this is an entertaining show to watch. Even if you don’t like the trilogy, you’re missing out if you don’t watch Cobra Kai.

Watch Transformers: War of Cybertron Trilogy with Netflix VPN

Nowadays, Transformers is usually associated with the Michael Bay franchise, which gradually lost the interest of fans and vast audiences alike. In February 2018, Hasbro (the original producers of Transformers G1 from the 1980s) announced a new reboot for the franchise. This included new toys as well as a new show on Netflix. Whilst they are all under one banner of Transformers: War of Cybertron, each season has its chapter name. The first chapter is Siege.

Right from the beginning, the show makes it clear this is not a children’s show. It never shies away from the reality of war. There are brutal executions, impaled bodies on a spike as well as scenes of torture throughout this season. War of Cybertron doesn’t fail to show how devastated both the planet and its inhabitants are. This leads perfectly to the desperation on both sides to find a way to finish it. The show also allows this bleak situation to focus on the development of Megatron and Optimus Prime.

Megatron (voiced by Jason Marnocha) is seen as honourable in the beginning, wanting a truce with Optimus to stop this war and save their planet. However, as the episodes go by, his desperation for an end to the war begins to bring out the Megatron we know. From killing a former friend to wanting to take away every Autobots free will, these decisions he chooses enable us to see how he turned from an honourable soldier wanting peace to the power-hungry tyrant we know him as later on. He chooses power over his former belief of preserving as many lives and the planet as he can.

In the beginning, we see a younger Optimus Prime (voiced by Jake Foushee) and he is no match for Megatron. This, along with multiple casualties and low energon, has many of his comrades doubting his decisions to keep fighting. Prime knows that if he signs the treaty, he’s signing away their freedom. This is what they are fighting for. We see this guilt eat at him as he knows his decision is killing others, and it’s refreshing. For once, we don’t have the Optimus Prime who knows everything and can protect everyone. We probably have the most realistic Prime in this show who will become the Optimus Prime fans are familiar with, later on.

The second season, known as Earthrise, gives even more promise. Splitting between the surface of Cybertron and space, allows this universe to be expanded on. The introduction of Scorponok, Unicron, and Galvatron as well as hints to Nemesis Prime are a few easter eggs for any Transformers fan to enjoy. All of this leads to the final arc, Kingdom, which is due to be released on May 31st. This will bring us the legendary Beast Wars, which could also include fan favourites such as Cheetor, Rattrap, and T-Rex Megatron, as seen by the release of toys for collectors by Hasbro.

Watch Mystery Science Theatre 3000: The Return on Netflix VPN

Mystery Science Theatre 3000 is a cult classic from the 1980s. Nominated for two Emmy awards in 1994 and 1995, this show was one of the influential comedies of all time and is often contributed to the beginning of social television, which is where people share opinions over social media and television. This is also how the show originally gained popularity, as fans began to spread the word about it.

The show is still immensely popular today. In November 2015, Joel Hodgson (who played the main character Joel Robinson) opened a Kickstarter to produce one more season of MST3K (the show’s abbreviated name.) The original target was $2 million. In one month, fans managed to raise over $5 million (not including “add-on” rewards from other sites). This then allowed Hodgson to produce 14 episodes for MST3K: The Return.

Following the premise of the original show, The Return follows Jonah Heston (Jonah Ray), who is a new human test subject trapped by evil scientists known as “The Mads” aboard a spacecraft called the Satellite of Love. Here, Heston is forced to watch bad movies as part of an experiment to break his sanity. On this spacecraft, he is joined by the original bots from the 1980s. Crow T Robot (voiced by Hampton Yount) is the easy-going but sarcastic and opinionated robot co-host. Tom Servo (Baron Vaughn) is slightly arrogant but has a highly sensitive nature. Considering both actors were recommended by Ray himself, the chemistry between them is natural. Jokes and segments are hilarious and with the addition of new upgrades to both robots (Crow’s large hands and Tom’s ability to fly and activate sleep mode), there are more jokes to be enjoyed from this show. The rest of the cast such as the Bot Gypsy (Rebecca Hanson), Kinga Forrester (Felicia Day), and her assistant Max (Patton Oswalt) aka “TV’s Son of TV’s Frank”, as he likes to be called, have their comedic cues as well.

The show also honours the past, as former casts feature in cameos throughout the revival. Fan favourites Pearl Forrester (Mary Jo Phel), Professor Bobo (Kevin Murphy), and Observer (Bill Corbett) all come back for cameo appearances throughout the series. Dr. Laurence Erhardt (Josh Weinstein) also returns for a reoccurring role in the final season. Other cameos include Kickstarter backer Mark HamillJerry Seinfeld, and Neil Patrick Harris.
