La Liga sees Real Madrid travel to face Real Betis on Saturday, while Barcelona play host to Villareal on Sunday. Both La Liga giants have had very unusual summers, for different reasons, and will once again battle it out for supremacy all season long. Both face ambitious teams with top 4 ambitions so these games will be worth keeping an eye on.

If the Bundesliga is more your bag, then Bayer Leverkusen vs RB Leipzig at 14:30 on Saturday stands out as the must watch fixture of the round. Despite the sale of Kai Havertz, Leverkusen are packed with attacking talent. The opponents are just packed with talent. Front to back and in the dugout. Julian Nagelsmann’s team are must watch most weekends and this will be no different.

Serie A might present the most interesting match-ups of any league this weekend with Torino vs Atalanta, Cagliari vs Lazio and Inter Milan vs Fiorentina highlighting Saturday’s games, and Napoli vs Genoa followed by Roma vs Juventus the pick of Sunday’s games. If, like me, you grew up watching Serie A on Channel 4 and have been sad about it’s demise over the past decade or more then rest assured, Italian football is back and deserving of your attention.

Not a football fan you say? Not a problem, this weekend has far more than just football on offer.

Europe’s elite Rugby competitions are at the semi-final phase and Friday sees Bristol face Bordeaux in the semi final of the Challenge Cup, with the winner going forward to meet Leinster or Toulon who meet Saturday in the other semi-final. The more prestigious Champions Cup also has it’s semi-finals on Saturday as Racing face Saracens and Exeter match up against Toulouse. All four of these games promise to be exciting affairs with Leinster and the English clubs perhaps having an edge as they’ve been playing more regularly against high level competition over the past few months than their French counterparts, who’s league has only had two match-weeks thus far.

Formula 1 addicts can get their fix with the Russian Grand Prix on Sunday. Lewis Hamilton looks set to retain his crown this season, and will be looking to add to his already near-insurmountable lead of 55 points in the Driver’s Championship. Hamilton has won this race the last two years and will be the clear favourite to do so again. With practice on Friday, and qualifying on Saturday, there’ll be plenty to keep fans engaged.

Golf enthusiasts have a choice between the European Tour’s offering of the Irish Open, or the PGA’s not so catchily titled Corales Puntacana Resort and Club Championship. Based on name alone, we will be recommending the Irish Open to viewers, where Jon Rahm will be looking to win his third title in four years at the stunning Galgorm Castle.

For those who enjoy watching people punch other people in the face, there’s a lot of fun awaiting you this weekend as well.

In Boxing we have four major world title fights lined up. Yuniel Dorticos faces Mairis Briedis in the final of the World Boxing Super Series Cruiserweight tournament. They will compete for the right to take home the IBF and Ring Magazine Cruiserweight titles.

Scotland’s Josh Taylor puts his hard earned WBA, IBF and Ring Magazine titles on the line when he faces Downua Ruawaiking of Thailand at York Hall in what promises to be a brutal match-up between two undefeated fights.

And finally 30-0 Jermall Charlo makes the fourth defense of his WBC middleweight title against Ukraine’s Sergiy Dervyanchenko, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. The co-main event of that one will feature his twin brother Jermell, 33-1, facing Jeison Rosario in a light-middleweight unification battle with the WBA, WBC and IBF titles all on the line.

If boxing isn’t for you, but fighting is, then the UFC 253 card will have you drooling. Two titles are on the line in Abu Dhabi, as Dominick Reyes faces off against Jan Blochowicz for the vacant Light Heavyweight title followed by potentially the most exciting fight the UFC has put on in years.

Unbeaten Middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya brings his elite striking and creative style of fighting to the octagon looking to put his record at 20-0 as he faces fellow unbeaten fighter Paulo Costa, 13-0, in what promises to be a war. Adesanya’s inventiveness, speed and precision against Costa’s unrivaled KO power, this is a fight between two guys who legitimately can’t stand each other. If you’re a UFC fan, this one is must see TV.

And for those of you that like the art of combat, but perhaps don’t enjoy violence, why not check out the WWE’s presentation of Night of Champions this summer. Every WWE title will be defended in what should be an action packed, fun filled show.

No matter the sport, no matter your niche, there’s something for everybody this weekend. There’s also the Stanley Cup finals in the NHL, the Conference Semi-Finals of the NBA and a Kansas City Chiefs vs Baltimore Ravens game that can’t be missed on Monday Night Football in the NFL.

While the pandemic might stop you from seeing friends, don’t worry. Who needs them? Find a comfortable chair, connect your Liberty Shield VPN, fire up your IPTV streaming; and enjoy what promises to be an incredible weekend of live sports.
